@article {69, title = {Holocene sea-surface temperature variability in the Chilean fjord region}, journal = {Quaternary Research}, volume = {82}, year = {2014}, pages = {342-353}, abstract = {Here we provide three new Holocene (11{\textendash}0 cal ka BP) alkenone-derived sea surface temperature (SST) records from the southernmost Chilean fjord region (50{\textendash}53{\textdegree}S). SST estimates may be biased towards summer temperature in this region, as revealed by a large set of surface sediments. The Holocene records show consistently warmer than present-day SSTs except for the past ~ 0.6 cal ka BP. However, they do not exhibit an early Holocene temperature optimum as registered further north off Chile and in Antarctica. This may have resulted from a combination of factors including decreased inflow of warmer open marine waters due to lower sea-level stands, enhanced advection of colder and fresher inner fjord waters, and stronger westerly winds. During the mid-Holocene, pronounced short-term variations of up to 2.5{\textdegree}C and a cooling centered at ~ 5 cal ka BP, which coincides with the first Neoglacial glacier advance in the Southern Andes, are recorded. The latest Holocene is characterized by two pronounced cold events centered at ~ 0.6 and 0.25 cal ka BP, i.e., during the Little Ice Age. These cold events have lower amplitudes in the offshore records, suggesting an amplification of the SST signal in the inner fjords.}, issn = {0033-5894}, doi = {10.1016/j.yqres.2014.07.009}, url = {http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0033589414000933}, author = {Caniup{\'a}n, Magaly and Lamy, Frank and Lange, Carina B. and Kaiser, J{\'e}r{\^o}me and Kilian, Rolf and Arz, Helge W. and Le{\'o}n, Tania and Mollenhauer, Gesine and Sandoval, Susana and De Pol-Holz, Ricardo and Pantoja, Silvio and Wellner, Julia and Tiedemann, Ralf} } @article {1981, title = {An evaluation of 14C age relationships between co-occurring foraminifera, alkenones, and total organic carbon in continental margin sediments}, journal = {Paleoceanography}, volume = {20}, year = {2005}, note = {id: 492}, month = {2005}, pages = {1-12}, author = {Mollenhauer, Gesine and Kienast, Markus and Lamy, Frank and Meggers, Helge and Schneider, Ralph R. and Hayes, John M. and Eglinton, Timothy I.} } @conference {1760, title = {Radiocarbon ages of marine bimarkers and co-occurring foraminifera: evidence for differential particle transport on continental margins, Poster}, booktitle = {Eighth International Conference on Palaeoceanography}, year = {2004}, note = {id: 549}, month = {2004}, address = {Biarritz, France}, author = {Mollenhauer, Gesine and Eglinton, Timothy I. and Hayes, John M. and Kienast, Markus and Lamy, Frank and Meggers, Helge and Schneider, Ralph R.} } @conference {1554, title = {Alkenone radiocarbon stratigraphy at high resolution continental margin sites}, booktitle = {EGS-AGU-EUG Joint Assembly}, year = {2003}, note = {id: 1071}, month = {2003}, address = {Nice, France}, author = {Mollenhauer, Gesine and Eglinton, Timothy I. and Freudenthal, Tim and Lamy, Frank} } @conference {1594, title = {Compound specific radiocarbon dating of alkenones: methodological considerations and applications in paleoceanography}, booktitle = {18th International Radiocarbon Conference}, year = {2003}, note = {id: 1070}, month = {2003}, address = {Wellington, New Zealand}, author = {Mollenhauer, Gesine and Eglinton, Timothy I. and Schneider, Ralph R. and Meggers, Helge and Lamy, Frank and Ohkouchi, Nao and Hayes, John M.} } @conference {1761, title = {Radiocarbon ages of marine biomarkers and co-occurring foraminifera: evidence for differential particle transport on continental margins}, booktitle = {AGU Fall Meeting 2003}, year = {2003}, note = {id: 1069}, month = {2003}, address = {San Francisco, USA}, author = {Mollenhauer, Gesine and Eglinton, Timothy I. and Hayes, John M. and Keinast, Markus and Lamy, Frank and Meggers, Helge and Schneider, Ralph R.} }
